Proposals [Read critique]

1. Freshers' Weekend

Overview : My First proposal is to organize a fresher’s weekend in which we will be having the fresher’s introductory seminars of all the societies under social and cultural genre. They will also be given an overview of The General Championship. Other than this, they will be given a glimpse about Spring Fest and its working. The interactive seminars will be followed by various events.

Why and how is it necessary?

  • Most of the gymkhana societies organize their own fresher’s introductory programs to tell the fresher’s about their society and they also organize their selections on their own at different dates. The dates often clash and people are unable to attend the introductory seminar of different societies. Freshers don’t know about the General Championships, until seniors tell them and this results in a low participation of fresher’s in General Championship. Apart from that the introductory seminars, cultural activities taking place in the next two days will serve as an ice breaker for the first years that are new to the institute.

2. Transportation during Inter-Hall events

Overview : My second proposal is to provide transportation during various inter hall events. It has been observed that the Halls of Residence generally face problems in transporting sets and instruments from the respective halls to the event venues, thus I propose to provide Institute transport during Inter-Hall Dramatics Events and Entertainment Group events to ensure safe procurement of Sets and Instruments.

3. Accommodation Portal for SF

Overview : My third proposal is to launch an accommodation portal for Spring Fest using which out-station participants can choose and confirm their on campus-accommodation online.

Operation : Since, Spring Fest has started accepting payments online in advance. It is possible for Spring Fest to allot common rooms of various halls of residences in advance. For this, Spring Fest will launch an online accommodation portal where the participants who have already paid the registration fees can give their preferences from the available accommodation sites. On a first-come-first basis, Spring Fest will do the allotment for the same. After reaching IIT Kharagpur, out station participants will have to produce a print of accommodation slip which will be generated on the portal and can do away with the waiting they have to do in long queue. Only people who are doing on-spot registration will have to be in the queue.
